No activity better illustrates how generous NALC members are with their time and their money than our fund-raising for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Every year letter carriers across America work to raise money for MDA in hopes that their efforts will help find a cure for neuromuscular diseases.
NALC members have used scores of techniques to raise money for MDA, from raffles, pancake suppers and golf tournaments to canister collections at road blocks and backyard carnivals with dunk tanks.
Through their combined efforts in 2007-2008, letter carriers presentted $2.1 million at the MDA Labor Day Telethon, and then pitched right back into work, raising more contributions to present this year. These incredibly generous results are ample reason for all NALC members to be proud of the union's fifty years of support for this very worthy charity.
