Director of Retirees Ernie Kirkland urges each retired member to
help toward repealing existing legislation that reduces our earnings and also to deflect possible future attacks on retirees pensions through contributions to COLCPE and our activism.
As NALC's political action fund, COLCPE helps elect candidates who support letter carriers. By strengthening NALC's voice in Congress, COLCPE protects our rights and the future of the Postal Service.
NALC members can help protect the interests of retired letter carriers in three easy ways. So help NALC work for retired letter carriers by signing up to make regular contributions to COLCPE automatically:
through automatic deposit directly from your OPM annuity, or
through electronic fund transfer directly from your bank account, or
through payroll deduction using PostalEASE
or by:
sending a check to COLCPE at NALC Headquarters today (payable to NALC-COLCPE) to 100 Indiana Ave. NW, Washington, DC 20001-2144). |
More and more of your retired NALC brothers and sisters are doing so every day. You can join their efforts and help even more by joining the growing legions of NALC Legislative Activists and the NALC e-Activist Network. That way you will be personally contacted when NALC needs your help in calling or writing to members of Congress or other important policy makers about letter carrier interests.
"Our political might was never more evident than during the 2006 national elections," says Retiree Director Ernie Kirkland. "But we cannot sit back and rest now. We must continue to support those elected officials who stand with us and defeat those who believe we are a silent mass with no political power. By staying active with our contributions and our efforts as e-Activists, we will be successful.
"If you are already a registered e-Activist and giving to COLCPE, I thank you. For the other retirees, you have worked too long and hard to be denied your well-earned retirement benefits. It is time for each of us to step up once again and join the NALC in this modern line of battle. We all know what is necessary, so let's get started. Tomorrow may just be too late."
