NALC members from Pennsylvania on Capitol Hill

More than 100 letter carrier activists from Pennsylvania traveled to Washington, DC, June 6 and 7 to educate their members of Congress on issues of importance to letter carriers, including NALC’s priority resolutions on six-day mail delivery (H.Res. 15), door delivery (H.Res. 28), and service standards (H.Res. 31). These resolutions have seen broad bipartisan support in previous Congresses, and Pennsylvania members advocated on behalf of all of NALC members, asking their representatives to support and co-sponsor these bills.

The members also held their annual congressional breakfast and heard speeches from Reps. Ryan Costello (R-PA) and Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA) and from an aide to Sen. Bob Casey (D-PA).

Thanks in part to these activists’ efforts, an majority of Pennsylvania representatives have signed on to at least one of the above-mentioned resolutions, with most of these signing on to all three.

Since nearly the whole House delegation from Pennsylvania supports postal services, Keystone State letter carriers clearly have done an effective job of educating their representatives and maintaining solid relationships with them in their home districts. NALC’s progress toward exceeding a majority of voting co-sponsors for each resolution is on track, thanks in part to the great work out of Pennsylvania.

Pictures to come—please check back.
