Randy Keller was elected by acclamation to a third term on the National Board of Trustees by the 2006 Las Vegas Convention. He continues to bring to his role a no-nonsense New England determination to keep the union strong so it can defend the membership and advance the cause of letter carriers.
President of Massachusetts Northeast Merged Branch 25, Keller has led the 1,200-member local for the past 16 years. He became a letter carrier in 1982 and joined the NALC because, in his words, “when I witnessed management’s mistreatment and abuse of letter carriers, as well as their lack of respect for the National Agreement, I decided to put a stop to it.”
A Marine Corps veteran of Vietnam, Keller has served as shop steward in his “home” post office of Reading, Massachusetts since 1984. He served Branch 25 as MBA/NSBA rep, Step II grievance designee, and executive board member before being elected branch president in 1990. He also has served as an arbitration advocate.
Under his leadership, the branch has exercised its political muscle effectively in the congressional district it covers, playing a critical role in nailing down a House seat for a good friend of letter carriers.
Keller has a bachelor’s degree from Boston State College. In addition to his specific fiscal responsibilities as trustee, Keller works “closely with the national team of officers with the goal of improving working conditions and benefits for carriers throughout the country.”
Keller has three adult children: two daughters and a son. |
