Serving letter carriers in Arizona, Arkansas,
Colorado, Oklahoma and Wyoming

Wesley A. Davis, National Business Agent

National Business Agent Wesley A. DavisWes Davis, re-elected by acclamation as Region 4 National Business Agent at the 2006 Las Vegas Convention, has more than two decades of union service behind him and a proud family history of delivering the mail.

Davis joined the NALC in 1966 when he began his postal career in Houston, Texas. He moved to Hot Springs, Arkansas in 1971 and has been actively involved in the union at the local, state and regional level ever since.

The mistreatment of letter carriers was the spark for the union fire in his eyes. “I saw the way management harassed the older carriers, carriers with on-the-job injuries, and those they just didn’t like,” Davis said. “I wanted to help those people.”

A member of Hot Springs Branch 543, he was a shop steward for six years before being elected branch president in 1982, a post he held until 2002. Davis also was Arkansas State Association vice president for two years and then president for the next 18, ending in 2002.

During that time he gained additional expertise by serving as a local business agent (1984-1997), Region 4 workers compensation specialist (1988-1997) and as a Regional Administrative Assistant (1997-1999). He was first elected NBA by NALC members in 2002.

"My major goal as NBA is to make sure the branches, no matter what their size, have the information they need to effectively represent their members," Davis said. "The key to that is providing open communication, training, and accessibility to the business agent's office."

“I take great pride in my family’s 125 years of postal service, starting with my father, Albert J. Davis, a retired NALC member, and my mother, Clariece, a retired rural carrier,” he added. Davis’s wife, Teena, also is an NALC member and he has two other relatives with Postal Service ties.

The Davis family includes two daughters and two sons.
