Today is National Voter Registration Day

In 2008, 6 million Americans didn’t vote because they missed a registration deadline or didn’t know how to register. In 2016, NALC joins the AFL-CIO and scores of progressive organizations to help make sure no one is left out.

Today is National Voter Registration Day, when volunteers, celebrities and organizations from all over the country like NALC will be hitting the streets for a single day of coordinated efforts designed to create pervasive awareness of voter registration opportunities. The goal is to reach tens of thousands of voters who might not otherwise be reached.

Millions of voters need to register and re-register every year. National Voter Registration Day was set for the fourth Tuesday of September by resolution of the National Association of Secretaries of State to bring together thousands of volunteers across the nation to register voters—an opportunity for us to put our differences aside and celebrate the rights that unite us as Americans.
