Postal Service lost $1.9 billion in second quarter, despite uptick for first-class mail

On Friday, May 9, the Postal Service released its financial report for Fiscal Year 2014’s second quarter. The Washington Post’s story about the report mentioned pre-funding as well as the USPS’ reported $261 million profit in the second quarter. The story prominently quoted NALC President Fredric Rolando, and it engendered lots of comments on The Post’s website.
