Legislative Updates
On May 3, the Senate passed S.Res. 153, a resolution to honor public servants during Public Service Recognition Week (PSRW).
PSRW, held this year May 7-13, honors the men and women who serve the nation as federal, state, county and local government employees. Since 1985, the Public Employees Roundtable (PER) and its member organizations have organized a week where mayors, governors, agency leaders, communities and public service organizations that participate in PSRW issue proclamations, host award ceremonies and special tribute events and deliver messages about the value of public service.
One highlight of PSRW is a congressional breakfast to congratulate the 2016 finalists of the Samuel J. Heyman Service to America Medals.
NALC is proud to participate in PSRW and commends letter carriers for their hard work and dedication this week—and every day.
