Senate committees accumulate money in ways others can’t

The campaign committees for the House and Senate dominate the list of political action committees (PACs) with the most money to spend, but there’s a big difference between the two. While Senate races cost much more money than House races, senators are able to hoard six years’ worth of fundraising and to spend the most in one year.

Many of these war chests can be used to help influence competitive districts or even boost campaigns to replace retiring senators. Check out how much money Senate committees had at the end of 2013 alone:
