Branch 157 member and long-time union activist passes away from coronavirus

NALC is deeply saddened to learn that 70-year-old retired letter carrier Raymond “Doc” Dougherty, a member of Branch 157 in Philadelphia, died on Saturday, July 4, from complications related to COVID-19. Brother Dougherty began his 34-year career with the Postal Service in 1977. For many years, Doc served Branch 157 as a shop steward, a lead route inspection team member, and the assistant recording secretary.

"The entire NALC grieves the loss of Brother Dougherty," NALC President Fredric Rolando said. "Our sincere condolences and heartfelt prayers go out to his family, friends, co-workers and loved ones.”
