Recent letter carrier deaths

On-duty deaths

Sharon Henley died on Sept. 19 after suffering a heart attack while on duty. Sister Henley was a member of Miami, FL Branch 1071 and was a letter carrier for 18 years. She was 54.

Mario Cuarto passed away in his postal vehicle on Aug. 25. Brother Cuarto was a letter carrier for 29 years and was a member of Pasadena, CA Branch 2200. He was 58.

James Zameska Jr. died in his postal vehicle of heart failure on Sept. 21, 2022. Brother Zameska was a member of Greenwood, IN Branch 2421 and served as a letter carrier for 23 years. He was 55.

“NALC is deeply saddened by the deaths Sister Henley, Brother Cuarto, and Brother Zameska, who lost their lives while on duty,” NALC President Brian L. Renfroe said. “On behalf of NALC, I recognize their decades of service and send my deepest sympathies to their families, friends and fellow letter carriers.”
