USPS’ YTD 2016 results: $1.8 billion operating profit

The U.S. Postal Service’s February 2016 and year-to-date 2016 results were posted earlier last week on the Postal Regulatory Commission’s website. They can be found here.

For the month of February, the Postal Service had a $233 million operating profit. Year-to-date through February 2016 (the first 5 months of the postal fiscal year), USPS now has a $1.8 billion operating profit.

This year’s year-to-date operating profit is significantly higher than projected, and it’s higher than the Postal Service’s operating profit at the same time last year (which, at $1.4 billion, was also very good).
