CCA back pay update
The Postal Service has confirmed that the approximately 6,000 former CCAs who did not receive their back pay for time worked as a CCA during the back pay period on February 23 will receive this payment in their May 4 paychecks.

Former TE step advancement
In accordance with the 2016 National Agreement, any CCA who was employed as a TE after Sept. 29, 2007 and has been, or will be, converted to a career position may be eligible for a one-time advancement to a higher step on the career pay scale.

The 2018 NALC Guide to Route Inspections has been printed and is being shipped to each NALC Branch and the 15 National Business Agents’ offices.
MDD Load Truck feature
If a letter carrier is instructed to load or deliver their parcels in a manner inconsistent with the procedures outlined in Handbook M-41, he or she should follow those instructions but inform a local union representative for further investigation.
Promotion pay grievance update
A national class-action grievance was originally scheduled to be heard January 30. Unfortunately, this hearing was unexpectedly canceled by the arbitrator. NALC has received proposed dates for rescheduling and we expect to have a firm date shortly.

Safety Ambassador Program
NALC advises all NALC activists to not volunteer to serve as a Safety Ambassador or participate in the newly developed Safety Ambassador Program.
EEOC finds USPS practiced disability discrimination
The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has found the Postal Service National Reassessment Process (NRP) subjected approximately 130,000 injured-on-duty employees to a pattern and practice of disability discrimination.

NALC lauds bipartisan effort to advance postal reform legislation
NALC thanks and commends the bipartisan authors of S. 2629 for working to strengthen the Postal Service. America’s letter carriers appreciate the significant improvements contained in the bill over prior reform efforts.
Convention hotel update

White House administration’s 2019 budget targets letter carriers and their families
While breaking campaign promises by calling for massive cuts to Medicare and Medicaid, the administration’s new budget also calls for gutting the Affordable Care Act and aims direct attacks on federal and postal employees and their agencies.
CCA backpay update
As letter carriers eligible for retroactive pay began reviewing their earnings statements over the weekend, errors were discovered. NALC has been and will continue to work with USPS to identify those affected and correct the errors as soon as possible.
